Yearn

Have you ever been through a time in your relationship with God where he seems to kinda just shake you up and bring you to this place of being unsettled and completely broken? This past month has definitely been one of those times in my life.

The past few weeks God has revealed a lot to me about my relationship with him. He showed me how comfortable, and "stale" i had become. Honestly, i had even maybe regressed instead of progressed. Not in a since of living a life in more sin, but by not sharing my life with him completely, and not praying and seeking him in all areas of my life. I had come to a point where reading my Bible and talking with God on a daily basis had lost its value in my life and i realized that it didn't effect me to go throughout a whole day without so much as acknowledging my creator unless i was at church. I also realized that i had developed the habit of not placing my life and my situations in his hands, and not even seeking his will in different areas in my life. Upon realizing this my heart was broken. How did i let myself get to this place? How did i get so comfortable in that place?

God lead me to a scripture in the book of Acts, which says this:
"He doesn't need help from anyone. He gives life, breath, and everything else to all people. From one person God made all nations who live on earth, and he decided when and where every nation would be. God has done all this, so that we will look for him and reach out and find him. He isn't far from any of us, and he gives us the power to live, to move, and to be who we are. "We are his children," just as some of your poets have said. (Acts 17:25-28 )

God doesn't need me. He loves me, he longs for me, but he doesn't need me. I need him, and he wants me to feel that need for him. He created everything, he knows everything i need and will ever need. All he longs for me to do is reach out for his help. To yearn and seek to be with him and find him. He is right there doing everything he can to try to get our attention and show us the way to freedom in him, all we have to do is stretch out our hands and grab on. He yearns to lead us in a life of peace and happiness, yet we seem to try everything and when we are at our "wits end" and seem to have no other solution, we go to God for direction.. when he should be our first choice. So many times I've taken situations right out of the grasp of God's hand and tried to solve them myself. So many times I've basically said to God by my actions "God i don't trust you!"

Hebrews 12 28-29 says :"We should be grateful that we were given a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And in this kingdom we please God by worshiping him and by showing him great honor and respect.
Our God is like a destructive fire!"

We serve a powerful God! He created us, he created this the universe, and he is in control of it all! No matter who our president is, or no matter what most of the world believes, we DO serve a God that CANNOT be shaken. How terrible of us to worry and be so negative about things in our lives and yet sit in the pew at church and claim to love serve and TRUST God. Our actions as Christians have began to speak out WAY louder than our words are. How are we supposed to lead people to Christ, whom we claim to place all of our trust in, when in all honestly, we pick which areas we are going to trust God with and keep the others for ourselves. God knows exactly how much we can handle, and he knows exactly what we need, so why do we fall so short when it comes to just reaching up, and taking hold of his promise to bring us through every storm in our life?

"Yearn" By: Shane & Shane
Holy design
this place in time
that i might seek and find my God
my God

Lord i want to yearn for You
i want to burn with passion
over You and only You
Lord i want to yearn

Your joy is mine
yet why am i fine
with all my singing and bringing grain
in light of Him
oh You give life and breath
through Him You give all things
in Him we live and move that's why i sing

Live performance of "Yearn"
